Picking a Paint Color for Your Front Door

It's officially been two years since we bought our home! 
{Where did the time go?!}

Among the many projects I knew I wanted to tackle after moving in was painting my front door!

I LOVE statement doors! I have many pins dedicated to choosing the right paint color and how to paint your front door. I'm the kind of person who has to gather waaayy too much information before deciding what to do. Kind of seems like a time waster but in the end it's really beneficial because I learn great techniques and new tricks as well as making a solid decision that I hopefully love for a long time. See how cute all these ideas are??

We seem to be having a slew of random house projects popping up- not the fun kind either. I don't like that kind of stress so I resort to my therapeutic PAINTING in those stressful times. I must have been waaay stressed because I not only painted the door but my whole entryway too! It finally got a fresh crisp white coat- no more old yellowish off white. I'll show that off later!

As for the door, I quit being wishy washy and just went for it. I already had this paint color on hand from one of the amazing Ace Hardware free paint days for Clark + Kensington flat paint. I'm a huge fan. Clark + Kensington knows how to make paint with great coverage and less dripage. So this project was FREE! LOVE THAT!

Anywho, what do you think?? I'm loving the color contrast between the scrolly white screen door and the turquoise behind it! The panels to the side also have the same white scrolly metal "screen" so I'm debating on painting the inside of the side panels to match the door. But maybe that would be too much turquoise?? 

I also need a cute Welcome mat to match! Any suggestions on finding a budget friendly but adorable mat?

Lemons=Lemonade so broken screen door=picture frame? Obviously! A DIY Pallet Wood Project

So ya know the old saying... "If life gives you Lemons... make lemonade." 

Here is my DIY-er version... "If your house gives you a broken screen door... make a picture frame!"

 It just so happens that is has been quite windy this summer and our back screen door got blown right off (bad) but it somehow left one piece of glass unbroken(good)! Way to stay positive right?

I also seem to be a collector of pallet wood and most of it is still sitting in my back yard... time to start really putting it to good use. 

So with a little imagination, one disassembled pallet, some screws, a couple ceiling fan braces and even a strike plate(to hold the glass in place).... we ended up with THIS!! 

The great part is I didn't even cut a piece of wood to make it. The sizing and placement turned out perfectly for me.

FREE Baby Sling, Canopy, Nursing Cover AND Nursing Pads!

 Yes that's a lot of FREE items for baby! I have personally ordered 2 slings and a nursing cover from these companies before... I have loved them too. My only tip is to not dry them, especially the sling or it will shrink. Lesson learned!

The only "catch" to the FREE items is that you pay shipping and handling which will vary from item to item. For the sling and the nursing cover I believe I paid $9.95-$12.95.  I'm not sure the shipping costs on the car seat canopy or the nursing pads though.

You will need to order each item separately, even the nursing pads and nursing cover that are on the same website. You can order as many as you want with the code too as long as you do them individually.

The great thing is the code is the same for all websites and items...

FREE clothing from Target Up-cycled!

Do you remember me posting about getting totally FREE KIDS CLOTHING from Target?! 

Here's the clothing I scored for FREE!! 

I got two long sleeve shirts and 2 shorts, exact same for my two girls.

Since it's already MEGA hot where we live I sure wasn't going make my girls wear long sleeve shirts and the sizes wouldn't fit them come winter time. 

So this is what I did! 

(I wish I was a professional photographer but I'm not and I'm too impatient to keep trying for better photos after I finish a project, lol!)

• Cut off the sleeves to the desired length.
• Cut both sleeves into 2 long strips(4 total)
• Sewed strips together
• Used strips to add a ruffle to the bottom of the shirt
• Used even the scrap serged end I cut off to make bows for the sides
• Added a tiny bit of ric rac to the sleeves and....

 BAM! I now have a cute SHORT sleeve shirt for FREE!

One down one more to go!

I think it's safe to say SHE LOVES HER NEW FREE OUTFIT!

I headed to Target to snag a couple of flip flops for $.50 each but before heading over I decided to check out the other Target Apparel coupons and ended up printing a few different ones. 

SO glad I did!

So here's the two deals I snagged and you can too!

(EASY!!! FYI- only the solid colored ones were marked $2.50 at my store BUT there were other cute flip flops on clearance you could use the coupon on too. The nicer kind that were originally $12.50 marked to $6.49, after coupon would be $4.49... I went with the basic though)

I think it's because I bought 4 items but I'm not sure. So might as well print two coupons and get 4 items each... Gotta LOVE FREE kids clothing! I plan on making the plain white long sleeve shirts into cap sleeve tees and embellishing them so I'll show you that sewing project later. :)

It was funny because at checkout I wanted to buy some gum so I threw in a pack that was $1.09(clearance)... I was thinking my total would be around $5-6. The cashier rang up the coupons and it came to $2.09!!! I paid more for the gum than all the clothing and flip flops!
