FREE clothing from Target Up-cycled!

Do you remember me posting about getting totally FREE KIDS CLOTHING from Target?! 

Here's the clothing I scored for FREE!! 

I got two long sleeve shirts and 2 shorts, exact same for my two girls.

Since it's already MEGA hot where we live I sure wasn't going make my girls wear long sleeve shirts and the sizes wouldn't fit them come winter time. 

So this is what I did! 

(I wish I was a professional photographer but I'm not and I'm too impatient to keep trying for better photos after I finish a project, lol!)

• Cut off the sleeves to the desired length.
• Cut both sleeves into 2 long strips(4 total)
• Sewed strips together
• Used strips to add a ruffle to the bottom of the shirt
• Used even the scrap serged end I cut off to make bows for the sides
• Added a tiny bit of ric rac to the sleeves and....

 BAM! I now have a cute SHORT sleeve shirt for FREE!

One down one more to go!

I think it's safe to say SHE LOVES HER NEW FREE OUTFIT!

Easter Skirts...and EASY Cake Pop Recipe

I realize Easter has already passed and I really should have made this into a tutorial before Easter buuuttt I didn't. I just simply attacked the project because I needed to get them done. I did them the FRIDAY before Easter, lol! 

I loved this fabric I had spotted online and knew it would be PERFECT for Easter Skirts. So here are my two cute girls in their skirts... we never got a group picture because most of the time they were either too cranky or too busy... what else can you expect anything else from them! LOL!

Skirt Simple Instructions

 I basically just used 3 times the width of their waist line in fabric(and cut to the desired length for each child) then pleated the skirts as I sewed them to a soft elastic waist band fitted to their waist line... and added a cute pink flower trim. I know that is totally over simplified but if you sew, I think you will know what I'm talking about, for those that don't, so sorry.... maybe one day I'll have a real tutorial for you!

Here's one of my boy in his Easter outfit that I DID NOT make... I really need to learn how to make cook boy stuff... Any ideas people?

We decided it would be fun to do cake pops and mock Reese's eggs and make an Easter Bouquet...

 They turned out way better that the snowman trying to be an Easter Bunny.... I think I need to write Palmer's and let them know we ate Snowmen for Easter! 

Homemade treats were a much bigger hit!

Did you know cake pops are really easy to make?! 

Ingredients needed:

1 box of cake mix

You choose the flavor- prepare as described on box

1 tub of frosting(your choice of flavor)

For Coating:

Chocolate chips(I used a full 11 ounce bag)

1/8-1/4 cup shortening

OR

Melting Chocolate

Directions:

1) After cake is cooked, just simply crumble into a bowl and add 1 tub of frosting. Mix all together. 2)Roll into desired size of pop cake balls- I did about 2" balls

3)Put on wooden skewers and place in freezer(for 2 hours or so)

4)Melt Chocolate and shortening together

5)Dip frozen cake balls in the chocolate and decorate as desired- we used sprinkles... you need to sprinkle before chocolate hardens.

CRAFT: Kids snack organizers

For our trip to Hawaii I wanted the kids to have a cute easy to use snack organizer... that wouldn't cost much and would last for hours on a plane... These worked great!

Super fun and easy! 

All you need is:

 *about 1 fat quarter of fabric(or two halves for coordinating fabrics) depending on the size you make, 

*snack or quart sized zip lock baggies(with zippers-easier for the kids)

*A closure:Velcro like mine, or a button loop closure, or no closure if you prefer.

1) Cut fabric to size. It needs to be at least twice as long as the baggie size you chose, preferably twice as long plus 2 inches to provide for the flap closure.

2) Lay fabric back facing out(like sewing a seam for a skirt)... sew all three sides and leave fourth side open.

3) Turn inside out, sew shut. 

4) Take a handful of Ziploc baggies(I did 5) and lay them with the zippers at the end of the fabric.

5) Sew on Velcro tabs to ends, fold over to make sure they align correctly. Add any embellishments- we did ruffles for the girls.

 6) ADD SNACKS!!! Eat and Enjoy!

Once the bags wear out or are dirty, simply tear them out and sew a few new ones in! So easy! The rest of it can be thrown in the wash too!

**You could also use this for crayons and markers. Think Sunday church activities. Help keep the kids quiet:) That is one of the hardest things to do in our family! We are noisy!

Easiest Maxi Dress Tutorials Ever!

We are planning a vacation to the beach and I really wanted to have some easy maxi dresses for the girls and I.  I searched for a while and tried out a few things but then redid them. So this is what we ended up with...

Here is my dress. This is me trying to show you that it is a short version of the maxi dress... it is especially hard to take pictures of yourself when you have no long mirror in the house. I was standing on a toddler step stool.

*Also notice in the pictures below, the top right corner was how it first looked on... I thought it looked to baggy in front so I simply pulled the excess fabric to the back and it totally gave me a slimming look in front and a nice bit of curve.. uh um... out back where I don't have much.

 I used this tutorial to make MY Boho Maxi Dress. Seriously, the EASIEST thing EVER!!! Anyone can make this!!! It's just basically one giant rectangle with a seam on 3 sides and a few slits cut for a neck line and sleeve holes! AWESOME!!

All you need:

*For a long one: 60"x65" piece of knit fabric

*For a short one: 50"x60" piece of knit fabric

This started out as a dress for me- this is when I realized it has been a LONG TIME since I have made something for myself! I had forgotten how to make grown up girl clothing and only knew how to make little girl clothing! So I simply cut down the length for her(Cutest 4 year old ever) and took in the inseam a bit.

All you need:

*a tank top(I used one of my old ones and downsized it)

*knit fabric... length depends on the individual and what you are going for. I did it about 2-3 times the width of the waist too. It really didn't take much at all.

And then I made this one as almost and after thought... the ruffle was actually a scrap piece of fabric cut off from the dress above in attempt to make it smaller! My daughter was playing with the scraps and had a "surprise" for me... she really did surprise me when I saw the ruffle and how darn cute it was!

All you need:

*a tank top(I used one of my old ones and downsized it)

*knit fabric... Just for the ruffles... so scraps from another dress works perfect!
