Disney on a Dime Tips: Top 3

My hubs and I have been gathering information, tweaking the vacation budget, and weighing out the pro's and con's of my recent post To Disney or To NOT.

Of course I felt like I needed a refresher on all the "Disney on a Dime" posts floating around. There are A LOT of them. So I figured I would share a list of links with great Disneyland info and MY FAVORITE TIPS. I actually found a couple new to me tips!

Just check out my Disney Pinterest Board for all the great links on Saving in Disney.

Here are the tips I loved:
(if we head to Disney, I will for sure be doing them)
1: Use your Target Red Card to buy Disney spending cards. Save 5% right away!
Amazing! What's so great about this is that you can use the Disney cards anywhere in the park on food or souvenirs and you instantly saved 5%! I also think it would be a great idea to give each child a small amount on their own card-then when it's gone- it's GONE. Also- this is a great opportunity to teach your kids about finance.

**Along with this tip, one blogger suggested keeping those $5 target reward cards you get from time to time and then turning those into your Disney cash cards before your trip. Although you get these free, you won't be getting 5% off the Disney cards so you could use them for snacks to take into the park and then buy the Disney cards separate too. Either way, it is a great idea!

2: Rent DVC points! (Disney Vacation Club) One blogger tells of how she saved $3200 on hotels by doing this!! She paid $800 for 6 nights to stay on Boardwalk(normally $4000)! I'll let ya know first, it will cost MORE than just an offsite hotel but if you want the experience of staying IN Disney and can't hack a several thousand dollar bill just on a room, this is a great option. Read her post HERE. There is a lot to consider with this option and I'm still researching it out. If you are going to Disneyland, there is only the option of staying at  The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. We figured for 5 nights in November it would cost about $1450 to sleep our family of 6.
Or you could go the Get Away Today route, we have used them before and they were fantastic- they take care of the tickets and all. I've also heard for larger groups that renting a condo from Vacation Rentals By Owner(VRBO) is an awesome deal- like a home away from home!

3: Pack your own food and drinks into the Park
Ok, this one is a no brainer and pretty common but you can pack snacks and a small cooler into the park. You can put it in your stroller or pay about $12 a day for a locker and head to the park area for lunch and dinners. BUT the idea I LOVED from one blogger was to pack refillable water bottles- for water yes- but also pack those individual drink mixes with you as well. They are compact and when you are thirsty for something other than water, you can quickly make a gatorade, lemonade, or punch drink instead of spending the $4-6 for a drink in the park. I read you can ask for a cold drink of water at any food service for free too. And keep your eye out for the drinking fountains throughout the park.

BONUS TIP: Buy lanyards and pins on Ebay before your trip.
You can get them MUCH CHEAPER this way and the kids can trade with the characters and workers in Disney. I haven't done this one yet but I think the kids would love it and it would make for a great souvenir. Here is also a blog post about pin trading which is the source for the image above.

Hope you enjoyed these tips and will search my Disney Pins for more!

Hopper Ball Review- Benny the Bouncing Bull

Sponsored Post by Jumping Balls

I have to tell you how long I have waited for a chance to review this FUN product! I have been working for over a YEAR in hopes to work with them on a review... which you might know is always followed up by a GIVEAWAY! I know you all a cheering... more on that later ;)

Soooo of course, I was *thrilled* to find an email from them just last month confirming the opportunity. I KNEW my kids would just love it... and they did.

I mean who wouldn't love Benny the Bouncing Bull right?
Here is the Nitty Gritty Review ;)

Pros:
*Obviously cool looking!
*Lots of color options
*Super bouncy fun
*Helps kids exercise
*Burns energy- great activity to do about an hour before bedtime ;)
*Designed for kids 18 months to 6 years old
*Can be used for therapy purposes for children with needs
*Hilarious to watch kids play on it
(My four year old said, "This is Totally AWESOME!)
*Easy to pump up with included manual pump
*Very durable(even I gave it a shot... just couldn't resist)
*Holds the air in well, no need to re-inflate for weeks

Cons:
*It is smaller than it looks on the website
For my kids, the 2 and 4 year old could ride it the best. My two year old LOVES it. My six year old has a harder time bouncing on it so for her I think the next size up would be best.

So if you are ready for your kids to have hours of fun and use up all that energy we moms all know they have, check out all their bouncing animals!

I remember one of my all time favorite activities as a kid was bouncing around on something like these Hopper Balls... of course they were a bit more plane back in my day

(I am 30 now ya know! YIKES! Ya I just let that one slide by without announcing it on the blog... it did end up being a good day though)...

Anyway, my children and I were so lucky to review these sweet Hopper balls. We received "Ellie and Emily" the Elephant... yes my kids named the Elephants. :) We got the small size for kids ages 3-6.

I think I could just say they are awesome and be done but I'll go ahead with the details for ya!

(My boy right after a wipe out! lol... looking nice and tired and ready for bed in his pj's)

Pros:
Oodles of bouncing fun
It's exercise for the kids and they don't even know it!
Burn off all that toddler energy :)
These small hopper balls are great for ages 3-6
Easy to inflate
Very durable thick vinyl
Holds in air pressure amazing...
we haven't had to re-pump at all and we have had them for weeks now.
Can be used indoors or outdoors
Can be used for therapy sessions for special needs children as well
Great price for the product
Compact when deflated for easy storage
There are different sizes for different ages
There are also different options of animals and characters too

A wardrobe to last beyond delivery. 5 Tips

Ok girls, moms... We all know there are cute maternity clothes these days but the is still a problem with them, they are MATERNITY. PERIOD. I can't speak for you but I know I don't like the idea of spending a wad of cash for each growing trimester and then having to tuck them away in a bin labeled "maternity". So what's pregnant lady to do? Live in spandex pants for 9 months... Maybe... But leave the house in those spandex pants and I'm pretty sure you'll feel a little less than cute.

First I must state that I don't usually spend much on myself even when I'm not pregnant but this past month I have been really feeling the pregnancy blahs when it comes to my looks. That....and I got to go on vacation with my hunky husband WITHOUT the kids so I wanted to be extra cute for him ;)

So since I we really want to look cute while pregnant but still be able to wear the clothes even beyond delivery, I have some tips for you based off a few of my latest shopping sprees.

A wardrobe beyond delivery!!

1) I was half joking about the spandex- stretchy clothes can be your friend, even best friend during pregnancy...just make sure the stretch is all in the right area. Look at these tops I scored from DownEast Home & Clothing!! Way better than a pair of hot pants right? Just be sure to pick something with good elasticity, meaning the garment will stretch when and where needed but also return to it's natural form. (Yay for growing bellies, nay for deformed stretched out clothing)
Just to give you an example, the BRIGHT yellow lace top is a size large, the hot pink is a small... Yet both, when tried on, worked great. As Alisha from Miss Plunkett said, "the shirts have a generous sizing." So does the elasticity in them:)  Still up for that photo shoot Alisha? LOL...you had to be there.

2) Lots in the current trends are easily adapted to a cute belly. Bat wing, flowey shirts with a "belted" or "cuffed" fit at the bottom will show off your belly bump and keep you feeling cute. The best part is post pregnancy, even after loosing the baby weight, these tops will still flatter you with the flowey look and you'll feel very comfy too.

3) Disregard the labels, large or small, maternity or not. We all know sizing varies from brand to brand and style to style so really, maternity or not, you can make it look good!!! Just try them on. Cut off the Maternity and sizing labels if it makes you feel better :)

4) Accessorize. Yes. The age old tip, accessorize. Belts are very flattering during pregnancy. I suggest getting the belts with some kind of elastic for comfort...or the super skinny belts that will just sit above the belly bump. Again accessories will last beyond delivery too! All those baby doll tops and flowey shirts are great paired with belts so even if you bought a L or XL top, your belt will make it look like it's the right size even with out the baby bump.

5) Alterations. SIMPLE alterations. The belt is one way of taking care of extra baggy tops, or if you prefer, you can easily do a quick inseam alteration too. Really, it's one line down each side of the shirt, just follow the inseam for direction while sewing, it's not always a straight line... So the excuse "I can't even sew a straight line," is not an excuse!

Questions anyone?.. Oh one more tip- the clearance section is a great place to find deals and experiment with tops of different sizes... those long sleeve lace tops came from here :)

DownEast is a great place to shop for clothing and home decor. Besides their own private DownEast labeled clothing and home decor, they offer amazing discount prices on name brands, lots of the top name brands, you'll recognize them when you see them in store. This cute cream tunic below has a comparable price of $120 but it was tagged for only $29.99! What a huge savings right?! And so cute.

Here are a bunch of pictures we snapped, please excuse the bad lay out, working from my husbands lap top because my desk top is getting repaired... not going to lie, lap tops are not so easy for this sort of thing, at least not for me.

Besides all the fun tips, I really just want to say "Thank You" to DownEast and their fun and friendly staff at the DownEast Home & Clothing store in Washington. The Blogger Mixer was great. I got to go with my amazing niece Crystal from Health, Food, and Happiness and we met a bunch of fun local bloggers too, some new ones and some I already loved:)
