A little truth about MLBB...
Can I tell you how much it bugs me that my life is not in order enough to be making MLBB'S for you all again?
I haven't been making them since I learned I was pregnant with my now 7 month old baby girl. It's actually coming up on 3 years for my Etsy Shop, My Lil' Budget Book and I so wish that I could have a big celebration sale... well... maybe by the time it's 3 1/2 years I can! LOL.
Here are some little truth's about my business I started long ago:
*I actually began selling baby stuff first at BabyBejeweled on etsy. The shop opened August 19, 2007! A few months after having my first baby girl!
*It was from this shop that I sold my FIRST MLBB on January 20, 2008! So really it has been almost 4 years since MLBB's hit the market!
*I did a lot of searching the internet to see if there was anything like what I had in mind out there already, I found NONE.
*Soon after I began selling on Etsy, with in just a couple of months, I had others beginning to compete with me! REALLY! At first I was bugged but then it became fun to compete back(most of the time) plus that meant I had a good product that people wanted!
*I began selling more MLBB's than Baby Stuff so I decided to open a NEW Etsy shop just for them on January 26th, 2009, about year later!
*Between the two shops I have sold about 500 MLBB's, not to mention the ones I have sold outside of Etsy. And that is all with having 3 kids, a couple of different moves, and lots of breaks to keep my sanity and remembering that being MOM is most important!
I have been randomly watching the market on Etsy for products like mine and let me just tell you, there are a bunch of people following my footsteps... I just hope that I can jump back in and give you all the products I created again, but with a fresh new look!

New Laminated Budget Books
In case you haven't checked out My Lil' Shop lately, there are a couple of changes besides the ones Etsy has made.
The look of all Etsy Shops is quite a bit different. Everything about my shop and sections is off to the left now instead of the right...
The changes I have made are a bit more exciting. SOME customers have been asking for MLBB's that are protected from liquids and dirt, well now I offer Designer Laminated Fabrics. So far they have been a hit. These are the new fabrics below and a sample pic of what the finished product looks like.
Another change I have made more recently are all my new custom designs. Lots of different options are available upon request. So head on over and check it out!

As the founders of Simply Utah, we’d like to take a moment to introduce you to our site. A little background for you, this site was actually created out of frustration. We are two sisters that have lived in Utah the majority of our lives. We love it here, and all that Utah has to offer, but we were sick of seeing so many adorable products and not being able to track them down; thus, a new website was born!
Welcome to SimplyUT.com, a site where you can find some of the most unique and creative products out there! Simply Utah is striving to achieve many goals, and hopefully the following 3 points help outline our vision for you.
1. We are working toward having the largest online directory for creative businesses, specifically within the state of Utah. You’ll be able to find what you’re looking for all on one site, and with one click you’ll be directed to their blog or website. We do, however, welcome any company to join our directory regardless of geographical location!
2. We will be highlighting a different company, Monday through Friday, each week. The highlighted company will also provide a product or service at a discounted price for the day.
3. In addition, we are also advertising local boutiques and shows throughout the state of Utah. In our EVENTS tab, you’ll be able to locate a local boutique, their hours, and a map for directions to their event. We like to think of Simply Utah as a site that offers it all – you’ll be able to find what you are looking for on simplyut.com! My Battlecreek Booth
So this is the final product of hours of work.... I got lost while trying to get there so tack on travel time too...LOL. I think it turned out pretty cute for a lil' 2x5' booth. I have to say I am really enjoying not having to be there either. Central checkouts ARE awesome! If I was there I would be worrying about the kids or they would be with me and I would be part of a circus. Ha! All my inventory is there which includes Mini's, Eco Lil's, Vinyl Lil's, Big(check size), and Document size designer organizers(which have yet to make their debut on Etsy).
I also have cute headbands that my sister sells displayed on the coat rack and by the mirror AND adorable wipe cases by Ashlee at The Prickled Pear on etsy. All of our products can be found in Southern Utah at Christensen's and Christensen's kids too!
On another note, if anyone is interested in doing a craft boutique in Washington, my sis Janet that sells the headbands will be putting a show on over at the Cotton Town Village. It is Nov 20-21st from 10-6 both days. There are sure to be many fun booths and gifts to buy for your Christmas list. If you are interested in joining the show as a vendor contact Janet at 435-628-9041 for more info. It is only $35 for a booth and that includes both days.

Utah Valley What Women Want Expo!
Thank you! Thank you! to everyone who stopped by my shop. The show was well worth it and I had such a great response from everyone I am sure I'll be doing it again along with other shows that I am trying to line up right now! Here are a couple pictures of our booth. I kind of forgot about taking pictures because it was so busy so we hurried and snapped a few towards the end.
This is a little bit of the display. Our booth was so cute but you can't really tell from any of these pictures. BTW, this is me for all of you who might wonder what I look like! :) Yes, dorky pics but that is me.
And this is my sweet little girl. She took initiative and started handing out business cards to people walking through! I so did not teach her or tell her to do it. It was the cutest thing ever. She is sporting a cute top made by Rozzi at http://www.rozzissweetpeas.etsy.com/ who had a booth right next to us too! Adorable stuff, check her shop out!
And this is me and mis sis-in-law who came up for the show to help out.
And this is... me... again... and my sis who came to help. We don't look anything alike do we?
All in all, the show went great. I have been busy ever since with planning and preparing for future events and promos. Keep up with my business if you can:) If I can:) LOL.

Made by people that need it FOR people that need it!
I have exciting news. Because I have been pretty busy lately with orders and such I decided that I would expand my shop & efforts. I have two kids that keep me pretty busy and I am trying to potty train:) SO fun. Ha!
Because of my time constraints and the popular demand for MLBB's, I have decided to have a couple of other cute Stay At Home Mommies (SAHM's) to help me out. Let me just tell you a bit about this expansion. This has been the plan all along but now the time has come.
You all may know that I began making these because I REALLY needed to use this cash only method of spending(and I am still using it). This product is of course fashionable and appeals to our femanine needs as women but that is not the only reason for making MLBB's. I really love what Dave Ramsey teaches about finances and any way that I can support those teachings and get people excited about them, I will do it.
With that said, I also loved the idea of having a company that can offer an outlet for SAHM who need some extra income and want to make a change in their lives. I have two awesome family members helping me out with the making of MLBB's and others helping to promote.
You may notice that in the sale section of MLBB there are listings for slightly imperfect MLBB's. Jump on these deals while you can. They are really small imperfections put I don't want to discard any product so you'll save $ while I get my MLBB crafters trained.
In short, my Business's Mission statement is this:
"Made By People That Need It For People that Need it"

I'm getting brave
Now that I have been making these cute budget books for almost two years and selling them on Etsy and the occasional craft fair, I am stepping it up a notch. If you have been following my blog you may already know that Le Petite Garage recently contacted me to do consignment in their adorable high end shop on the beach in New Jersey. I happily obliged. I am so excited to see how they do in b&m stores. I am not worried because of all the wonderful feedback I get from my customers... see my store feedback here. I am so greatful for feedback too because it really helps me to know how I am doing and even what I might be able to improve with my products.
Anyhow, I am not located in New Jersey so I decided that I should try local shops as well. This means that I go find the cutest shops and yes I even get to spend some mula in these shops, I now have that budgeted in:) I went on my first adventure with my sister today. I absolutely adore a couple of local shops here in Salt Lake. They caught my eye right away when I moved into town. I would feel so special if I were able to have my products featured in their shops. Once they decide to purchase or carry on consignment, I will list the names and links to the shops here on my blog.
Well, I have to tell you. It isn't easy just waltzing up to someone you don't know and asking them to consider carrying your items in their shop. It is the initial "Are you the owner or buyer for this store?" that always scares me. After a little bit of talking about them and their shop I then lead into my products(which I happen to be a big fan of) but I still find it hard to talk about how much I love them because I feel like I am totally bragging. And I guess I am sometimes. All in all, I am excited to see what local shops I'll be able to discover in the near future. I am headed to another part of the city tomorrow to see what I can uncover.
My sister is actually helping me in the wholesale and consignment process. She isn't so shy. She can talk to anyone so it is nice to have her help. Anyhow, watch for future shops to be carrying MLBB products. Hopefully in a shop near you!
If you know of any well established boutiques or shops in your are that you think my products would fit well in, let me know and I will try hard to get my products in a shop near YOU! :)
Thank you for reading my updates and following my blog. I would love any comments too! Tweet Pin It
